About Us
Think Deeper. Beyond the Surface. Feel More.
In all of the stories we tell, whether in words, images, or a combination of both, our goal is to illuminate the human experience through literary expression and original art. Our stories contain the emotional threads that weave us together and foster the connections that bring meaning to life.
Art With Heart and Purpose
Our Mission
Brilliant States of Mind was born from the collaborative vision of Wil Dorsey and Jenn James, authors and artists who transform life observations into stories and creations that resonate. Our intent is to explore and express the deeper emotional and spiritual connections that shape our lives—through stories, art, and experiences that help people see, feel, and connect on a higher level.
The Inspiration
Our inspiration for Brilliant States of Mind began with a simple but powerful idea: that our thoughts, perspectives, and personal experiences have the ability to shape not only our lives, but the way we connect with others. Recognizing the need for more meaningful, thoughtful expression in a fast-moving world, the brand was created as a space where creativity, insight, and human experience come together. Through art and storytelling, Brilliant States of Mind continues to explore what it means to think deeply, feel fully, and live with intention.
Meet the Artists Behind Our Creative Vision
Wil Dorsey
My interest in art and creative storytelling started when I was four years of age. I can recall trying to draw a picture of a horse, that did not turn out so well. I asked my mother to help me draw this picture. She proceeded to draw a magnificent rendition of the horse I was trying to draw. I kept my mother's drawing for a while and studied it for anatomical form and accuracy, and kept practicing until I was able to replicate it. From that moment forward I have always loved art and drawing.
I remember drawing on the backside of family photos, because I did not have drawing paper available to me. To this day I have my early efforts of drawing and storytelling, because my mother gave me the family photos. I enjoyed reading comic strips in the Sunday newspaper and tried to draw comic strips. I would create panels complete with characters and lettering on the backside of the family photos. I started creating storylines for these comic strips, which led to my interest in storytelling.
Life has a way of creating challenges which can take you further away from whatever it is you may have a passion for. Despite all of life's ups and downs, I never gave up my interest in art and storytelling. Today I have a renewed passion for art, because relevant stories and illustrations are an effective means of communicating with many people. I hope to create stories and drawings that resonate with individuals. So, as you can see, drawing artistically and storytelling have always been integral to me and has played an invaluable role in my life for so many reasons.

I have been writing and doing artwork since the age of seven when I wrote my first story titled Jack and the Pumpkin Patch. My mother was impressed and asked me to copy it out by hand five times so she could mail the story to my grandparents and aunts. The effort required to complete this task soon after I had learned to read and print, along with Mom's encouragement, impressed on me the high value of storytelling and using my imagination. I also felt both of my parents' encouragement and delight when I began making personalized cards for their birthdays and special occasions. Easter cards were especially fun because I would often glue a piece of cotton ball to simulate the soft puffiness of a tail to my renditions of the Easter Bunny. Though the quality and style of my cards evolved, I continued creating them through my teen and into my adult years, and my audience extended beyond family to friends.
Now I am delighted that I have developed a way to offer our creative products to all of you through Brilliant States of Mind. I hope that you find the same joy and inspiration here that I feel in bringing it to you.
